Organising more efficient circulation of urban logistics vehicles to run on the most effective times and routes is key for any city in order to improve efficient and sustainable circulation and reduction of logistics traffic in the city.

    Description

    As a world-famous tourist destination, hosting over 5 million visitors a year, cleanliness of public spaces is extremely important for the city of Bruges. However, currently municipal departments  have no real time view on the status of garbage cans and whether they are full or not.  This means it is difficult for the waste management team to improve collection operations.  Additionally, there is no routing management system, which decreases staff efficiency. The city also lacks an integrated view of how waste is organized and no mechanism is in place to define when and where an intervention on cleanliness facilities is needed and justified.

    • Tools helping optimise and reduce the tours required for the maintenance of garbage bins in the city and monitoring levels
